Abstract:
Primary and secondary plant nutrients and sugar fractions were determined in leaf and fruit samples of 10 fig cultigens grown under the same nutritional conditions at the Erbeyli Fig Institute (Aydin/Turkey). The evaluation of the result shows that Ca and Zn contents were at deficiency levels.
The dominant sugar fractions were fructose and glucose.
Among the investigated cultigens, Göklop, Bursa Black (1), Sarilop (37) were found to exceed the others in terms of fructose and total sugar contents.
A significant correlation was determined between fructose, - glucose and total sugar content and leaf Mn that can be attributed to its role in carbohydrate metabolism.
