Abstract:
Many factors that affect root initiation and development have been discovered resulting in the development of treatments to promote rooting of difficult-to-root olive cultivars.
Poor rooting limits the commercial production of potentially important olive cv.
Domat (difficult-to-root).
Trials were carried out on the rooting capacity of Olive (cv.
Domat). Effect of phenological state, plant factors, the combination of Phloridzin (PZ) or Phloroglucinal (PG) with Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and girdling were the most effective solution for the rooting ability.
This research project reported that:
- Olive cuttings taken from young plants with medial cuttings in September.
- Phloridzin (PZ) and Phloroglucinol (PG) improved the rooting synergistically with Indole-3 butyric acid (IBA).
- Girdling indicated the best rooting.
These experiments on Olive cuttings (cv.
Domat) have shown how the best results are obtained.
