Abstract:
In addition to the valorization of pruning wood, the hardwood cutting was rehabilitated by growers looking for an easy and inexpensive method of manipulation while keeping the varietal conformity.
This study allowed us to determine the optimal conditions to improve such a technique and to have plant material with a rooting and vegetative development very close to semi-hardwood cuttings.
Results show that the best improvement is reached by determining the sampling date, the cutting size (diameter, length, apical part) as well as the hormonal treatment, substract and upkeep (irrigation…). By bringing these items into focus we are able to produce olive tree plants that fulfil qualitative and quantitative needs.
