MICROPROPAGATION OF TUNISIAN CULTIVARS OLIVE TREES: PRELIMINARY RESULTS

Authors:   A. Chaari-Rkhis, A. Trigui, N. Drira
Keywords:   Olive tree, In vitro culture, Culture media, In vitro rooting
Abstract:
The micropropagation of olive cultivars Chemlali de Sfax, Meski, Sig de Sfax and Chetoui allowed us to point out the proliferation capacities of microcuttings in different in vitro culture conditions.

Many combined nutritive environments were realized: macro-elements, micro-elements and vitamines of MS by adding Zeatine, Kinetine, BA and finally Mannitol as a source of carbone.

The preliminary results obtained show that the variation of the composition of the nutritive environments permit to obtain an important vigor and vegetative development (10 nodes on the same microcutting) during one cycle (about 3 months). Divided and put in the same proliferation conditions, the knots obtained show the same development. Finally, the rooting of the new leafy cuttings was possible using a combined nutritive environment enclosing NAA (2 mg/1).
