Abstract:
In Alföld wine-districts risks associated with grape cultivation are more extreme than in any other wine-districts of Hungary.
Cultivation of varieties of early and medium-early ripening, frost and winter hardiness and fungus-resistance can create chances for successful vine and wine production.
In our experiments we evaluated Hungarian and foreign varieties created by using Franco-American hybrids or Vitis amurensis aimed at enlarging the variety assortment.
We evaluated fungus-resistance, frost-resistance, yield quantity and quality of varieties.
The varieties showed resistance against downy mildew to different degrees.
Among varieties of Franco-American origin varieties Bianca, Viktória and Festivalny showed good powdery mildew resistance.
Hybrids of Vitis amurensis were less sensitive, than Franco-American progenies.
Against cool temperatures in November (-21 °C) varieties originated from Vitis amurensis (Petra, Liza) showed frost hardiness of high level.
Cool temperatures in early February (-18 °C) did not damage resistant varieties seriously.
On the basis of little plot experiments for the purposes of further productional experiments varieties Petra, Liza and Festivalny are highly recommended.
Among them variety Petra is the most promising.
