ISHS Acta Horticulturae 472: XVII International Symposium Virus and Virus-Like Diseases of Temperate Fruit Crops

OCCURRENCE OF PEACH LATENT MOSAIC VIROID IN AMERICAN PEACH AND NECTARINE CULTIVARS IN VALENCIA, SPAIN

Authors:   M.L. Badenes, G. Llácer
Keywords:   survey, RNA extraction, non-isotopic dot-blot hybridization
Abstract:
The present communication reports results from a survey of peach varieties introduced to Valencia in recent years with the aim to investigate the infection level of peach latent mosaic viroid (PLMVd). The implementation of rapid methods of viroid detection in fruit trees through non-isotopic dot-blot hybridization together with a procedure for viroid RNA extraction without the use of organic solvents greatly facilitated the performance of this study. Out of the 134 varieties tested, 110 were infected with PLMVd (82%).
