Abstract:
The Nederlandse Algemene Keuringsdienst voor Bloemisterij-en Boomkwekerijgewassen (Inspection Service for Floriculture and Arboriculture) or NAKTUINBOUW, is a foundation run under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries.
The NAKTUINBOUW performs inspections and tests, but this does not mean an individual inspection of each product and each plant.
If the affiliated nurseries (total amount 4,200) operate according to a sound management method, such individual inspections are not necessary.
The NAKTUINBOUW therefore mainly checks the quality of nursery phytosanitation, administration, system of plant production and management.
The affiliated nurseries themselves are responsible for the daily quality and documentation of their products.
The NAKTUINBOUW does however monitor starting material, for instance, by inspecting greenhouses, barns and fields, where the NAKTUINBOUW inspection officers look for varietal trueness, varietal purity, plant health and external quality.
If everything is in order, the nursery retains its entitlement to use the 'NAKTUINBOUW Quality Inspection' mark on its material.
