ISHS Acta Horticulturae 472: XVII International Symposium Virus and Virus-Like Diseases of Temperate Fruit Crops

CHARACTERIZATION OF PLUM POX VIRUS INFECTING PLUM TREES IN NORTH TRANSYLVANIA AND NORTH MOLDOVA OF ROMANIA

Authors:   M. Ravelonandro, N. Minoiu
Keywords:   plum pox potyvirus, Prunus domestica, immunoblot, IC-PCR
Abstract:
Prunus domestica represents one of the major fruit-trees exploited in the central European countries. Through our observations and investigations in northern Romania around the Carpatin region, notably the Bistrita-Nasaud valley, Cluj and Suceava, plums showing visible symptoms of plum pox virus (PPV) are commonly infected with the two major serogroups of PPV. D and M strains are commonly found in these areas. Refering to these observations, any serogroup of PPV can infect plums without restriction in this part of central Europe.
