Abstract:
In this study, pollen from Pistacia atlantica and Pistacia terebinthus was collected in the Adana province for artificial pollination.
Pollen was kept in a deep freezer until used on receptive P. vera female flowers.
At the time of collection and the time of use for artificial pollination, 2,3,5 -TTC viability tests and Saturated Petri Dish method germination tests were performed.
Results from two years indicate that Pistacia spp pollen may be kept in deep freezer storage to use for artificial pollination. 2,3,5 - TTC viability tests gave quick results regarding pollen viability and Saturated Petri Dish germination tests were effective using 10% to 20% sucrose solutions as media.
