THE INFLUENCE OF DURATION OF WARM, COLD-DRY AND COLD-MOIST STORAGE ON DEVELOPMENT AND FLOWERING OF FREESIA PLANTS |

| Abstract:
During 1972 corms of three cultivars "Rose Mary", "Rijnveld's Golden Yellow" and "White Swan" were given 31°C for 12 weeks followed by four weeks at 12°C or 2°C. "Rose Mary" corms treated at 31–12°C started to flower in the first week of January while those not treated flowered 1 month later. The following year corms of cultivar "Rose Mary", "Mozart" and "Apollo" were treated at 31°C for different periods and at 12°C for 2 or 4 weeks. The treatment at 13 weeks at 31°C followed by 4 weeks at 12°C wet was the most effective in hastening flowering. | |
