ISHS Acta Horticulturae 47: II International Symposium on Flower Bulbs

CHEMICAL CONTROL OF DISEASES ON LILIES

Author:   J. Boontjes
Abstract:
In the Netherlands, where lilies are grown for bulb production on a large scale, the crop must be protected against diseases caused by fungi, nematodes and viruses. The chemical methods used to control these diseases are reviewed, including soil disinfection under glass and in the field and the disinfection of planting material, scales and saleable bulbs. Substitutes for benomyl are discussed, and the application of minaral oil to prevent virus transmission in the field is described.
