Abstract:
The extension of the dwarfism scale and higher precocity in flowering are the main purposes of a screening applied to seedlings obtained from Damil® (GM61/1) open pollination.
The experiments started in 1985 with 'Burlat' and 'Lapins' sweet cherry cultivars, respectively characterized by low and high flower inductive capacity.
The clones has been compared to Damil® (GM 61/1) and Camil® (GM 79) as control rootstocks on the basis of the trunk diameter.
A few showed disturbances in the erected growth habit of the 'Lapins' cultivar.
The observations made in 1996 included the first evaluation of the fruits and pointed out additionnal properties depending on the rootstock:
- the increase of the fruit weight on 'Lapins' cultivar
- the variability of the fruit maturity with both 'Burlat' and 'Lapins' cultivars.
