Abstract:
Since 1982 the ECP/GR Prunus Working Group has been working.
At present the aim of the Prunus group is to increase the utility of the collection in the member states by improving the structure of the database by its updating and completion, in particular by adding agronomic informations.
For this the EU project GEN RES 061 in 1995 with 9 member states was established.
Coordinator is the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), Centre de Recherches de Bordeaux, France. - The topics of the project are the transfer of the existing database to modern programme (MS-Access), make available the data for all interested persons, update the database for accessions, characterise chosen accessions in the participating collections for agronomic characters using some common controls as references.
Important is the diffusion of the main results into international publications and conferences to present new organisation of the European Prunus database and its accessibility.
Potential users are breeders, growers, scientists or administrators.
