MULTIPLE ALLELE MODEL FOR GENIC MALE STERILITY IN CHINESE CABBAGE

Abstract:
Based on the analysis of the hereditary characteristics of the genic male sterility (ms) of Chinese cabbage, two genetic models were put forward to explain the inheritance of the male sterility: Genic Interactive Model and Multiple Allele Model. Genetic experiments were carried out to test and verify the models. Results showed that inheritance of the male sterility agreed with the Multiple Allele Model. This model accounts for a single locus with three alleles. “Ms” allele for mail sterility, and “Msf” for fertility restoration. The dominant- recessive relationship of these alleles was Msf>Ms>ms.
