ISHS Acta Horticulturae 465: IV International Peach Symposium

DIFFERENT DATES OF PRUNING IN PEACH TREE

Authors:   J. Lanzelotti, B.A. Gonzalez, O.A. Boragno
Abstract:
The results of the first eight years of the productive life of a peach trial trained in a « semi-palmette » shape, are presented. The trial was carried out in Mercedes, in the Buenos Aires Province Argentina. Six different successive pruning dates at thirty days intervals, are compared from 21st April of each year. The objective of this work was to determine the most appropriate dates for pruning peach trees in the humid pampa. Fruit production, fruit size, and different vegetative plant growth parameters were observed.

No significant difference was found between the different treatments studied. These results lead to the conclusion that, in the conditions of the study, peach pruning may be performed at any time of the period considered, the same yield and fruit quality will be obtained in all cases.
