Abstract:
In an organic peach orchard (cv Spring Lady, early, yellow and cv Regina Bianca, late, white), two soil covers Trifolium subterraneum and native meadow, were compared to tilled soil for three years, from plantation to the end of the training phase.
Tree growth was higher in the tilled soil, though the organic matter content was higher in the Trifolium blocks.
During the trial only aphids exceeded the economic threshold, but they were controlled with propolis and potassium soap.
Both cultivars grown in the tilled soil were more attacked than those in the covered blocks.
