Abstract:
The main peach production regions in Yugoslavia lie in the vineyard areas of the continental part of the state.
The region Beograd-Grocka is one of the most important.
The peach breeding program in INI Agroekonomik, Beograd, started in 1973. The program includes: study of vineyard peach germplasm resources in Serbia, breeding freestone peach and nectarine cultivars, breeding canning clingstone adapted to continental climate, genetic dwarf and propagation of vineyard peach rootstock selections by harwood cuttings.
