Abstract:
The losses in the period of bulb storage for seed production (October to March) during two seasons of production have been examined.
The studies are made on five introduced cultivars of semi-acrid onions: Texas Grano, Majon, M - 31 - 92 - D, Moldavski and Jesenichki zolt.
The losses in sprouted bulbs and the reduction of bulb mass for each month separately have been observed.
The biggest losses in the number of bulbs and the total mass have been reported with the variety Texas Grano (91 sprouted, 93.86% in mass reduction), and almost none with Moldavski (59 sprouted, 60.12% in mass losses). The largest losses in the number of sprouted bulbs and in the mass reduction have been noticed during the month of December (in average for the five varieties 15.8 sprouted and 26.91% in mass reduction) and the last month of the storage (February 15th to March 15th).
