Abstract:
During the investigation, a new technique of laser treatment was used, where the seed material was treated prior to planting so as to enable a higher yield.
Under similar conditions, the average yield of laser treated potatoes is 43.1 % higher than those untreated (the control). The increased yield of the laser treated variant is a result of a 17.8 % increase in the number of tubs per plant, and a 21.4 % increase in the weight of the tube.
This type of reaction of the potato is due to the changes in metabolism and photosynthetic activity of the plants brought on by the influence of the absorbed energy of the laser light.
