Abstract:
In experiments 1993, 1994 and 1995 in Kaona (600 m a.s.l.) were tested seven new Dutch cultivars: Fresco, Berber, Junior, Premiere, Escort, Diamant and Arinda and one cultivar from Canada: Atlantic
The experiment was carried in three replications (randomized block system). The distance between rows was 62.5 cm and in rows 40 cm.
During the period of three years (1993–1995) average month air temperatures and month rainfall quantity during the potato vegetation were measured.
The highest yield (mean of three years) gave following cultivars Escort (23.08 t/ha), Arinda (21.90 t/ha) and Fresco (21.84 t/ha). The smallest yield gave the cv.
Junior (19.32 t/ha). The highest number and weight of tubers fraction >55 mm was from cv.
Fresco, Berber and Arinda and from cultivar of Canada Atlantic.
The highest number and weight of tubers fraction 28–55 mm was from cv.
Premiere and Escort.
The highest starch content had cultivars: Atlantic, (17.17%), Premiere (16.68%) and Escort (16.06%) and the smallest starch content had cultivars: Berber (13.39%), Junior (13.85%) and Diamant (14.28%)
