ISHS Acta Horticulturae 46: Symposium on Greenhouse Design and Environment

AIR-INFLATED AND AIR-SUPPORTED GREENHOUSES

Author:   W.J. Roberts
Abstract:
Air inflated greenhouses, which use air to separate two film covers over a framework, are widely used for flower, plant and vegetable production. The use of air to keep the films rigid, increases the life of the film, eliminates unsightly building and provides an insulating airspace which reduces condensation and heat loss. Recovering is simpler and requires very little labor. Since the film does not have to be fastened to the framework, simpler and less expensive structures can be designed.
