Abstract:
The National Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Silsoe, England, was the venue for this symposium, held from 18–21 September, 1973. It attracted 71 participants from 17 different countries and was organised by the Working groups "Greenhouse Construction" and "Environment of Greenhouses and Horticultural Buildings" of the Commission for Horticultural Engineering of the ISHS. Twenty-four papers were read, and the texts of most of these are reproduced in this issue of Acta Horticulturae.
I should like to thank all those who prepared and read papers, all who assisted in the excursions, all who attended the meeting, and especially Mr.
B.C. Stenning and Mr.
K.W. Winspear for invaluable help with the local arrangements.
