Abstract:
Aliphatic glucosinolate biosynthesis can be divided into three parts: (1) The synthesis of side chain elongated homologues of methionine, (2) the synthesis of the glucone moiety and (3) subsequent side chain modifications.
We review the biochemistry and genetics of each of these processes, and progress towards obtaining genes to facilitate genetic modification.
