Abstract: This paper gives an overall view of the present situation of hybrid rapeseed/canola breeding and production in the World. The following topics are successively developed: hybridization systems used; varietal types which can be created from these different systems; various seed production designs set up in different countries; breeding methologies applied to select hybrid combinations; agronomical performances of the first hybrids registered in the World the present market situation of hybrid varieties.
