Abstract:
A synthesis of ten different books allow us to present an overview of the state of the art of crucifer species during the XVIth century.
Only cabbage, turnip, black mustard and radish were taken into account.
The different species remained difficult to recognise as they were drawn before the Linne classification.
Three books were very informative though sometimes surprising on agronomic practices.
The books, especially the medical ones, gave different cooking recipes and domestic uses.
Finally we showed how the crucifer species are effective in treating many diseases.
