Abstract:
The water quality use for soilless culture, in the plastic house area of the spanish south east coast presents E.C. values between 0.5 and 3.5 ms cm-1. In order to avoid salt accumulation, the nutrient solution is applied in excess.
This practice leads to an uneconomic use of water and fertilizers.
Water consumption, yield and evolution of the E.C. in the lixiviated water were studied in three different Perlite systems: a.
Perlite bags and no reuse lixiviated nutrient solution. b.
Perlite bags and reuse 50% of the lixiviated nutrient solution. c.
As b. but reuse 100%. First two crops results reveal good perspectives for systems b. and c.
