ISHS Acta Horticulturae 457: Symposium on Plant Biotechnology as a tool for the Exploitation of Mountain Lands

METABOLIC ENGINEERING AS A STRATEGY TO IMPROVE THE PRODUCTION OF SECONDARY METABOLITES IN PLANTS OR PLANT CELL CULTURES

Author:   R. Verpoorte
Keywords:   metabolic engineering, industrial scale plant cell cultures, Catharanthus roseus, terpenoid indole alkaloids, biosynthesis
Abstract:
For increasing production of plant secondary metabolites in plants or plant cell cultures metabolic engineering seems to offer interesting perspectives. With terpenoid indole alkaloid biosynthesis in Catharanthus roseus as example some of the problems are discussed.
