Abstract:
Arnica montana L., an herbaceous plant in the Asteraceae (Compositae) of potential use in phytotheraphy, was successfully propagated in vitro. Multiple shoot formation was induced from excised shoot tip explants on a modified Murashige and Skoog (M and S, 1962) medium supplemented with 4.44μM benzyladenine (BA) and 0.53μM -naphthylacetic acid (NAA). Adventitious roots were initiated by cultivating young growing shoots on a half strength of M and S medium containing 1.23μM -indolylbutyric acid (IBA) and 2% sucrose.
Rooted plantlets were then transferred to soil where they continue to grow with a survival rate of more than 95%.
