Abstract:
The purpose of the SIMULSERRE software is to enable the user to simulate the cycle of a greenhouse crop after having taken a set of strategic (location, type of greenhouse cover, heating and CO2 enrichment systems), tactical and operational (tomato cultivar, time-course of climate and truss pruning set-points along the crop cycle, adaptation of temperature set-points to radiation, transitions between day and night set-points) decisions. SIMULSERRE is based on a set of physical and biological models. The greenhouse climate model determines how the set-points can be achieved and calculates the climatic variables at a hourly time step. TOMGRO, the tomato crop model, simulates the gas exchanges on a hourly basis. On a daily basis, it calculates the physiological age and dry weight (plus leaf area) of leaves and stem internodes at the scale of sympodial units, and the physiological age and dry weight of individual fruits. Outputs in terms of resulting climate, crop growth and development, CO2 and energy balances are visualised through a user-friendly interface. Several simulations can be compared and the effectiveness of different strategies can be evaluated.
