Abstract:
Mango fruit has been in the focus of research for many years.
Most of the research has been of a general nature and largely confined to the postharvest life of the fruit.
As new techniques have become available, the mango has been receiving more attention from biochemists and molecular biologists.
This brief review deals with recent studies on the isolation of ripening-specific genes coding for different types of enzymes and their likely role during fruit ripening.
