Abstract:
Mangoes are produced in more than 100 countries throughout both the tropics and the subtropics, and in many of these as an export crop.
The total world production in 1994 was 18.450 x 103 metric tonnes.
Perhaps the most outstanding feature from recent years is the consolidation of production specifically in the subtropics.
With the exception of southeastern Asia, Australia and some African countries, which cultivate mostly locally selected varieties, the majority of countries produce cultivars developed in Florida, such as Haden, Tommy Atkins, and Keitt.
