Abstract:
About 20 species of Dendranthema are native to Japan.
Some morphological and physiological characteristics of seven species (D. boreale, D. indicum, D. japonicum, D. ornatum, D. occidentali-japonense var. ashizuriense, D. pacificum, D. yoshinaganthum) are investigated.
Each species showed a special plant form due to unique branching and flowering habits.
There were also some differences in the floral morphology and physiology among these species.
Prospects for the horticultural use of these are discussed.
