Abstract:
Among tropical fruit species, guava trees provide one of the main raw materials for the processing industry of jams. juice and pulp.
Aiming to evaluate the performance of eight processing - guava cultivars (Pera Vermelha, Red Selection of Florida, Tipo Redonda Grande, IAC-4, Seleçoes IPA B-18, IPA B-22, IPA B-24 and IPA B-29), under the semi-arid conditions of "Chapada do Araripe" (Araripe's Tableland). An experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design. with 5 replicates, where the following parameters were observed: yield (kg/tree). productivity (t/ha) and number of fruits per tree.
Guava trees evaluated during conditions without the use of irrigation.
IAC-4 showed the highest performance among other cultivars for the high number of fruits per tree produced, with higher production being achieved when plants were 7 years old.
Irregular rainfalls affected negatively fruit production of all cultivars.
