Abstract:
A Golden Delicious orchard, clon B on M9 rootstock, at Ora (Bolzano - Italy) has been fertilized for 8-year crossing 3 doses of N (0, 50, 150 kg/ha) with 4 doses of K2O+MgO (0+30, 0+0, 50+0, 150+0 kg/ha). For 3 years, fruit quality was determined at harvest and after storage (4 and 8 months) and climatic parameters were recorded.
Fruit quality was greatly affected by season and fertilization.
Apples were more elongated and had less seeds, less soluble solids and more acidity, when spring was cooler.
N fertilization increased fruit acidity and flesh firmness at harvest and after storage and it reduced fruit weight loss during storage.
The effects of K fertilization were less remarkable.
