INVESTIGATION OF MICROSPOROGENESIS IN GRAPE FOR DIHAPLOID PRODUCTION VIA ANTHER CULTURE

Authors:   R. Holló, S. Misik
Keywords:   Vitis, microscopy, carmine, hematoxylin, Alexander's method
Abstract:
Microsporogenesis of three Vitis varieties were investigated by light microscope. The traditional staining procedures, using carmine, hematoxylin, safranin, malachite green, were unsuccessful or took a long time. With the aid of the three-stain method of Alexander all of the developmental stages could be distinguished. This is the first step in our effort to produce dihaploid plants in grape
