ISHS Acta Horticulturae 445: IV International Symposium on Hazelnut

THE EFFECTS ON QUALITY HAZELNUT OF DIRECTION

Authors:   T. Karadeniz, M. Küp
Keywords:   Hazelnut, direction, physical and chemical characteristics, Espiye
Abstract:
This study was done for determination of direction effects on hazelnut quality at Espiye county (Giresun). Fruit samples were collected from 12 different gardens at same altitude and four directions. Several fruit characteristics such as fruit weight, kernel weight, kernel ratio, shell thickness, protein and oil contents were determined. Consequently, the east direction on quality of hazelnut in terms of physical and chemical effects was the best direction. It has been considered that east direction in establishing hazelnut gardens should be preferred.
