Abstract:
The aim of this research was to study boron concentration and its distribution in various parts of kiwifruit plants irrigated with high B water in northern Greece (Meliki). In the ripe fruits maximum boron concentration was recorded in the fruitstalk and minimum in the uppermost part of the flesh.
In the root system boron accumulated mostly in the fibrous roots.
Boron concentration in the bark of trunk and stems was 3 times greater than that of control.
Most of boron accumulated in leaves which contained 170 ppm B, when sampled at the end of September, while under boron toxicity their boron concentration at their margin was 850 ppm.
Leaf position in the shoot does not seem to affect their boron concentration.
