Abstract:
The cultivation of kiwi vines (Actinidia chinensis Planch.) was introduced in the area of Central Macedonia 22 years ago.
Since then the cultivation was also spread in areas with frequent frosts.
During the last decade frost injuries on the kiwi vines were observed, because of the low temperatures during winter, spring and autumn.
The extent of the injuries depends mainly on the plant growth stage and the kind, intensity and duration of the frost.
The growth stages of the kiwi vine that frost injuries were observed are: a) during bud dormancy, b) during the first activity of the buds c) during the emergence of the buds, and d) in mature fruits during harvest.
