Abstract:
Vines of cv Hayward obtained by micropropagation and woody cuttings planted at 4.5x1.5 m distances were used.
Over the first three years, canopy and root growth and the partitioning of dry weight were monitored at the end of each growth season.
Yield and fruit weight were recorded for five years after planting.
Micropropagated vines showed greater growth of both canopy and roots and better roots/leaves ratio in comparison with plants from cuttings.
First cropping and yield were not affected by the technique of micropropagation.
