Abstract:
Former studies determined the different rooting capacity of three explants derived from walnut seeds.
One of them had been defined as spontaneous rooting system (cotyledonar linking areas, CLA) and the others two as inducible rooting systems (cotyledonary portions, CP and embryonic microshoots, EM). In this work we try to stablish some of physiological and biochemical features enabling characterization of the rooting process in both spontaneous and inducible systems.
Rhizogenesis in the spontaneous rooting system takes place directly from the preexistent vascular bundles, and it is characterized at the biochemical level by, low relations auxin/cytokinins and high metabolic activity (quantified as PO activity). On the contrary, in the other two types of tissues (inducible ones), the rooting process takes place from neodifferentiated root meristems and they are characterized by high auxins/cytokinins ratios and low levels of peroxidase activity.
