Abstract:
F1 hybrid apricot trees were obtained in 1990 in order to develop new table apricot cultivars.
Through self pollination and crossing, 3064 hybrid seeds were obtained and 57.31% of the seeds resulted in healthy trees.
Most of hybrid trees came from 96 combinations through cross-pollinations of Cafona (1), Canino (2), Fracasso (3), J. Foulon (4), P. de Colomer (5), Sultanhisar Alyanagi (6), Sakit-1 (7), Sakit-2 (8), Sakit-6 (9) and 07-K-11 (10) fruited in 1993.
The types with low fruit characteristics were eliminated at orchard level and not included in further evaluation.
The quantitative and qualitative pomological characteristics of hybrid trees were evaluated according to the “weighted ranking method”. The pomological and phenological characteristics of the top ten apricot hybrids (data from 1993 and 1995) are presented.
