EFFECTS OF ARTIFICIAL POLLINATION ON FRUIT SET OF SOME PEAR CULTIVARS

Authors:   G.H. Davarynejad, A. Toosi, F. Ghavam
Abstract:
An experiment was conducted for a period of three years in Mashhad, to study the effects of self and cross-pollination on the fruit set of Natanz (a high yielding and high quality pear cultivar), Dargazi, Sebri, Shahmiveh and Bartlett cultivars. Cross-pollination with pollen of Dargazi increased the fruit set of Sebri and Natanz cultivars. In 1993 the Bartlett cultivar was a better pollinizer for Dargazi and Shahmiveh, but in 1994 and 1995 their flowering periods did not coincide.
