Abstract:
Cotyledons of pistachio cv.
Mateur were cultured on 69 media contains different combinations of growth regulators (BA, IBA and NAA). A large spectrum of responses was obtained, including callogenesis, rhizogenesis and shoot development.
All adventitious shoots were rooted on one specific rooting media and permitting recovery of more than 100 plantlets in the greenhouse.
Percentage of rooting depended on the initial combination of growth regulators in the organogenesis media.
These results confirm the organogenic potential of cotyledons and our presumptions on the remote effect of a well defined organogenesis media on rooting and acclimatization of pistachio plants from in vitro cultures.
Despite this success, the dioecy of pistachio remains the last mortgage for the recovery of a specific pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) genotype from cotyledons since these organ originate obviously from outcrossing genotypes.
