Abstract:
Temporary immersion is a technique known to reduce problems involved with in vitro culture in liquid medium. To render this technique as cheap and easy to use as possible, we developed a new container with a simple automatic programming system. The developped apparatus produced satisfactory results for microcutting and somatic embryogenesis of different species. Its advantages appeared to be due to an improvement in nutrition, gas exchanges and agitation. Efficient immersion frequencies and durations were surprisingly short. Immersion rates may control biological phenomena. This apparatus may become a common tool for plant tissue culture.
