A COMPUTER CONTROLLED CHAMBER SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR GREENHOUSE MICROCLIMATIC MODELLING AND CONTROL

Authors:   J.M. Hansen, K. Høgh-Schmidt
Keywords:   climate chamber, climate control, design, microclimate, sensors
Abstract:
To facilitate the development of a new dynamic climate control system a new type of climate chamber system was developed. The chamber system consists of the chamber, a computer to control the chamber climate, and sensors for measuring the chamber climate, the plant microclimate, and the chamber energy balance. A specialized microclimatic PAR-sensor, using a commercial photodiode, was improved and tested. The three chambers have been used in experiments for modelling the energy balance in a dynamic environment, modelling the canopy temperature and developing a new climate control system based on modelled rates of photosynthesis.
