Abstract:
Allium victorialis L. ssp. platyphyllum Hult. is a perennial wild plant in Allium genus and a forestry plant widely distributed in the northern area of Asia.
Recently, A. victorialis has been recognized as a valuable plant and an efficient cultivation has been desirable.
For reducing the growth period, the propagating using in vitro ovary culture was examined.
After 90 days of culture, the ovary colored dark green and calli were observed on MS medium in addition of 10 μ M 2, 4-D and 10 μ M BA. Besides, they were also induced from the ovary on MS medium containing 1 μ M 2, 4-D combination with 10 μ M BA, and 10 μ M NAA combination with 1–10 μ M BA, respectively.
Induced calli developed vigorously and their surface had compact primordium.
After dividing and subculturing calli, numerous meristem on their surface were initiated and then multiple shoots were differentiated.
By transferring multiple shoots to MS medium without plant growth regulators, rooting were observed and a large number of plantlets were effectively regenerated.
