Abstract:
The spread and behaviour of apple proliferation has been studied in a prolonged survey in different Swiss apple orchards.
The disease spreaded naturally.
There was no effect on the rate of spread due to the location of the orchard, the year, the age of the trees, the cultivar and the rootstocks the trees were propagated on.
In general diseased trees recovered after some years and appeared normal.
Further spread of the disease could not be prevented by removing diseased trees.
Cropping trees which get infected need therefore not be removed.
