PROTECTION WITH SOME STRAINS OF SARKA VIRUS |

| Abstract:
The prior infections with the necrotic, yellow and intermediate strains of Sarka (plum pox) virus reduced the number of local lesions in posterior infections, which were caused by these strains on Chenopodium foetidum leaves. The necrotic and yellow strains significantly reduced the number of local lesions in 6 and intermediate in 3 of the 9 possible cases. In double inoculations by the whole leaf method this reduction was in 8, by half leaf in 5 and by separate leaves in 2 out of the 9 test cases. Protective effects exhibited among the strains were due to the acquired resistance in infected plants. | |
