FRUITING OF REMONTANT (EVERBEARING) AND DAY-NEUTRAL STRAWBERRY CULTIVARS IN POLAND

Author:   J. Gwozdecki
Keywords:   Fragaria x ananassa, timing of production
Abstract:
This experiment was set up in the spring 1992 at Skierniewice, Poland (latitude 52 °N), where the longest day in June lasts 16h45'. The cultivars Geneva and Ostara (remontant, everbearing, TB) and Marastil and Selva (day-neutral, DN), were compared with 'Senga Sengana' (June-bearing). From 1993 – 1995 no DN cultivar fruited continuously from June until autumn. There was always a gap lasting a few weeks between summer (June) and autumn picking both in TB and DN cultivars.
