ISHS Acta Horticulturae 439: III International Strawberry Symposium

DISTRIBUTION OF RIPENING OF THREE STRAWBERRY CULTIVARS IN RELATION TO AVERAGE 24 HOURS' DAY AIR TEMPERATURE

Authors:   I. Dejwor, B. Radajewska
Keywords:   Fragaria x ananassa, timing of production
Abstract:
In the period from 1993 to 1995 the cultivars Elsanta, Honeoye and Kent were examined in a 3 year intensive production system. In 1995, one year, two year and three year old strawberry plants were examined. The yield of the strawberries was evaluated in relation to the average 24 hours' day air temperature for each harvest date.

It was discovered that the distribution of ripening is typical for the cultivars and shaped each year by the configuration of air temperatures. The age of plants did not have any influence on the distribution of ripening of the cultivars examined in the same year.
